About this recipe

Fit tiramisu is a healthy adaptation of the classic Italian dessert. Instead of refined sugar, date syrup or honey is used; instead of heavy cream, labneh and strained yogurt; and instead of store-bought biscuits, homemade healthy ladyfingers are prepared. This makes the dessert lower in calories and more balanced in protein. With its coffee aroma and light cream, it’s a delightful treat even for those on a diet.

Method

  1. 1

Whisk egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form.

  2. 2

In another bowl, whisk egg yolks with honey and vanilla.

  3. 3

Add flour and baking powder, mix well.

  4. 4

Fold in whipped egg whites gently with a spatula.

  5. 5

Pipe mixture into strips on baking paper.

  6. 6

Bake at 180°C for 10–12 minutes and let cool.

  7. 7

Pour cooled coffee into a wide dish.

  8. 8

Dip ladyfingers into coffee for a few seconds, letting both sides absorb it.

  9. 9

Arrange them in the bottom of a dish.

  10. 10

Whisk labneh, yogurt, honey, and vanilla to make the cream.

  11. 11

Spread half of the cream over the biscuits.

  12. 12

Add another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers.

  13. 13

Spread the remaining cream on top.

  14. 14

    Dust with cocoa powder.

  15. 15

Chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

  16. 16

    Serve cold.

Tips

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon to the coffee for extra aroma.
  • Grated dark chocolate can be added on top.
  • Replace part of the labneh with yogurt for fewer calories.
